Welcome to Golf Digest Handicap, an easy tool that calculates your handicap based on your scoring history - all for free!
Why get a handicap?
It helps you track your progress from one round to the next; it allows golfers of all skill levels to compete against one another fairly; and it's a way to determine where your game needs the most help. (This isn't an official USGA handicap, but a free and easy point of entry. For an official handicap, go to usga.org.)
Getting started is easy.

Golf Digest Handicap provides golfers with a method to fairly and accurately calculate their ability for competitive and tracking purposes. The formula was created by Golf Digest contributing editor Dean Knuth, the former Senior Director of the United States Golf Association Handicap Department who is widely known as "the Pope of Slope." Knuth, the primary developer of the USGA Course Rating and Slope Ratings systems, developed a unique Golf Digest course rating system that tracks skill and can be used in competitions between golfers.
Golf Digest Handicap is not meant as a competitor or substitute to an official USGA handicap, but as a solution for those golfers who wouldn¹t otherwise have access to one.
